We are excited to have Shannon Nichol, FASLA, PLA, LEED AP, and co-founder of GGN, present on her ongoing process of learning how to design with and steward native plants in home gardens.

Landscape design is at an exciting time in our region, centered on creativity, innovation, and experimentation, focusing on rediscovering the garden-worth and beauty of native plants.

As co-founder of GGN, Shannon’s enthusiasm for the distinct beauty and importance of a region’s native plants spurred the firm’s commitment to specifying native plant palettes in their work locally and worldwide. This commitment has led to collaborations with local, gardeners and nurseries.

Personally, the last 15 years of Shannon’s commitment to openly experiment in her own gardens, while sharing successes and failures led her to form friendships and alliances with people in a broad spectrum of roles and professions, learning together and creatively exploring the use of under-utilized native plants in mainstream design work.

Members are encouraged to bring a guest who works in the horticultural industry and are interested in joining APLDWA.

Parking is available at the venue and carpooling is always encouraged.
Light appetizers and refreshments will be provided.
